New Talents by JKF

The Kunstmuseum Basel and the Basel Jugendkulturfestival Basel (JKF) are joining forces for a new event as part of the existing summer music program YARD.Music. New talents will perform in small groups in the rooms of the Kunstmuseum Basel's main building, which was constructed in 1936: in acoustic sets, with minimal amplification, or simply a cappella. The musicians and singers will select works from the world-renowned collection and use them as a starting point for their mini-concerts and improvisations. There will be no stage; the musicians will perform in the halls and galleries of the main building, in close proximity to iconic masterpieces by Dali, Holbein, Manet, Monet, and Picasso.

The six talent showcases are selected through a public call for applications in close collaboration with the Jugendkulturfestival Basel (JKF). The commission consists of representatives from both institutions and guests. The JKF takes place every two years in the center of Basel. Around 180 performances, 1,500 performing artists, and 50,000 visitors make it one of the largest free festivals for young culture in Switzerland.
