For the artist Sol LeWitt, the idea behind an artwork was more important than the work itself. For example, he often did not execute his wall drawings himself, but only wrote the instructions. Anyone who buys a wall drawing from LeWitt acquires a certificate that includes an instruction manual. So one actually buys the idea.

To accompany the exhibition Picasso, Chagall, Jawlensky, our Education & Mediation department has designed a hands-on booklet to encourage children to playfully interact with our collection. The museum is now closed – but you can also get involved with art at home! That's why we provide activity sheets for downloading and printing - for children and everyone else who enjoys it.
