The Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart is only about five minutes by foot from our main and new buildings. It’s well worth the trip: Here, you’ll find works made after 1960 from our collection, as well as exciting exhibitions by contemporary artists.

We usually only show works on paper in the exhibition rooms of our Kupferstichkabinett (Department of Prints and Drawings) in the main building. But in this special case, the Belgian artist Catharina van Eetvelde also addresses mediated space with drawn lines.
Once a year the art museum hosts a celebration especially for families: On our family day, thousands of young people come to enjoy an extensive program of workshops, events and much more.
The Kunstmuseum Basel library doubles up as that of the Department of Art History of Basel University. It is open to all those interested in art and provides a broad range of media.
Our large book shop can be found in the Hauptbau, opposite the staircase leading to the Neubau. It provides a wide spectrum of goodies: from opulently illustrated books to film documentaries to elegant design objects for any budget.
